WHAT YOU NEED – THE RIGHT SKIING RENTAL GEAR TO CHOOSE
Heading out skiing for the first time this winter or maybe getting back into after a long break? You may find yourself headed to the local outdoor shop, or to the ski rental center on the mountain to get you yourself outfitted for your time on the snow. Most rental shops provide top-quality new gear. Since part of their profits come from marketing new equipment, they’re not going to send you out in ski gear that is less than stellar. After all, if you like it, you may be back to buy.
When trying on gear seek out an expert to help. Most rental shops are staffed with expert amateur skiers who like nothing more than to talk equipment with anyone who will listen. Ask questions; let them know what you like to do on the hill if you’ve skied before. Your need for speed, powder or mogul jumping will dictate some of your equipment needs. If you’ve never skied before let them know that too.
Before heading out, make sure the boots fit well and that you know how all the gear works together. Are the bindings tricky to snap into? Find out before you’re standing in the snow.
